Welcome back, everybody - I do hope that you have all enjoyed the summer break despite the weather! Having had a taste of the music from "Fiddler" in July, I think that the next few months will prove to be both enjoyable and exciting. We are breaking new ground, once more, with a show which has not featured in TOPS' repertoire before. As you know, the expectation is a full commitment from one and all whether chorus or principal for the duration of the rehearsals and subsequent production of the show. It is accepted that there will be absenteeism, for whatever reason, but if you know that you will be missing from a rehearsal, please have the courtesy to inform the Production Team beforehand.
I am delighted to be able to tell you that I have already received ticket orders for "Fiddler". The flyers are to hand - so please get your orders in as soon as you can - a sell-out would be wonderful. We nearly made it for "My Fair Lady" in 2007 - see what you can achieve for 2009.
A reminder of forthcoming events:
Sunday 7 September Auditions - any last-minute contenders, please enusure that you book a time slot and complete an audition form. (This will not be acceptable on the day of the auditions).
Sunday 14 September Annual Boules Tournament - Fun, half-day event, no experience necessary and plenty of time for natterng and enjoying a BBQ. This is to take place at 11am, at 80 King Edward Drive, Grays. The cost is £3, all you need to bring is your own meat requirements and drink.
Saturday 18 October Quiz Night - This is to take place in the Church Annexe. Details to follow.
Saturday 8 November Concert for the South Ockendon Community Forum. The music is to be as per previous concerts. Rehearsal will be on the day itself, during the afternoon. Bring some refreshments with you for tea!
Wednesday 10 November "12 Days of Christmas". This will take place again at the Tilbury Cruise Terminal. We have been given permission to sing music from "Fiddler". Other details to follow.
Friday 12 December "Have-A-Go-Night". This is our fun evening and Christmas Draw. The venue is the Scout Hall in Richmond Road, Grays. Brush up your party pieces!
On the subject of fund-raising - an every ongoing matter - I thought you would like to know that all those bottles you donated and for which you bought tombola tickets to win back(!) made a profit of £171. Thank you very much.
Also, a great big "thank you" must be recorded for our wonderful afternoon at Tina and Ken's in August. The weather did its best to dampen the proceedings but to no avail. And wasn't the grub good! AND, once more, people were exceedingly generous with their donations and £200 was rasied. "When can we have another celebration, please, Tina and Ken?"
Good luck to all you taking part in the auditions and happy rehearsing for everyone in the weeks to come.
