Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to TOPS and the start of another exciting few months. I say 'exciting' since we are embarking upon another brand new show with all the hurdles that that will bring. Some of us have already experienced the joys(!!??) of tap-dancing through the summer break and our Dance Captain's patience and perseverance are pretty inspiring. For the most part, we have not discovered any buddy Ginger Rogers or Fred Astaires, but we've had some fun. Thank you so much, Kate.

I would also like to thank all of you who have supported our various concerts and events since June. We've had a very full calendar with some really happy times together. The attendance for the Orsett Show, however, was disappointing, but to those of you who gave up your time to perform and be part of the team - well done and many thanks.

Our events calendar still has plenty on it for the coming months, so, as a gentle reminder, I list below all the happenings:

Saturday 10 November Annual concert for St. Luke's Hospice at Wickford. Rehearsal for this, Thursday 8 November. All of you who have rehearsed our summer concert music, are expected to be with the group for this event.

Saturday 24 November Evening concert for the South Ockendon Community Forum. Same music as above - rehearsal about 4pm on the day. Again, the expectatopm is that you will all be in attendance. Our chance to say 'thank you' for all the benefits we receive by being part of the S.O.C.F.

Late November/Early December '12 Days of Christmas'. Details to be confirmed. Music from 'Anything Goes'. Venue - Tilbury Cruise Terminal.

Friday 14 December The TOPS Annual 'Have-A-Go-Night' and Grand Christmas Draw - usual venue and format.

Saturday 15 December TOPS has been invited to perform at the Mayor's Charity Ball and Auction. Venue - Tilbury Cruise Terminal. The proceeds from this evening are, in part, for a children's charity. We will be entertaining for 20 minutes, around 9-9.30pm. The music will be either from the Summer Concerts' programme or a selection from 'Anything Goes'. Yet another opportunity to publicise ourselves!

And in between, there is rehearsing to be done! Please make sure that you have a rehearsal schedule ( Download the full Rehearsal Schedule ). This is organised by Ann, our Director, so that we get the maximum benefit from our evenings. A PROMPT start will also give us lots more valuable time!! We need to know, please, well in advance, if there are dates that you cannot attend!

I'll leave you with some great news that we received this week - we have finally been granted a licence to stage 'Fiddler on the Roof' in 2009 - another major first for TOPS and so different and challenging. Never a dull moment!
