Hi folks

Well another show done and dusted. I have to say many congratulations to everyone involved with “The Chicago Mikado”. We have received very positive feedback from a considerable number of people. In fact nobody has said that they did not enjoy the production overall, although there have been a few minor points about certain aspects.

Some have said that they were a little apprehensive before seeing our show, particularly a few G&S enthusiasts. However all were impressed not only with the content, but with Chorus, Staging, Lighting and Costumes which seems to have given a realistic impression of a Mafia run Chicago Nightclub. A big thank you to Gary Sullivan for his imaginative rewriting of the piece.

Please can I remind everyone that the Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 20th May, in the Annex to The United Reformed Church in Bradleigh Avenue commencing at 7.30pm. The Formal Notice has now been posted on the Information Board in the hall.

One of the matters that will be considered at the AGM is a fully updated Constitution for the Society and various Policy Documents which we should have in place to cover certain key issues, such as those relating to Child Care & Protection, and Risk Assessment. I am currently in touch with staff at the NODA Headquarters to ensure that matters are brought as fully up-to-date as necessary.

Whilst we are having a break from rehearsals, it would seem desirable to keep in touch with one another, and get-togethers such as this evening seem to be a sensible way to do just that.

The Committee would therefore ask that you also keep the following Thursday evenings free in your diary:

• 15 April

• 17 June (The day before the 50th Anniversary Dinner/Dance)

• 15 July

The intention is that we meet here at the normal rehearsal hall (unless another venue is selected for one or other date) and that way we can keep in contact with each other and let everyone know what is planned. Certainly ideas that we are looking at include:

• Workshops on Acting, Singing, Stage Make Up, and Dance (perhaps with particular reference to OKLAHOMA!)

• A “Road Crew” Concert

There will be a diary of Social Events published in relation to planned activities during the Summer months as soon as details have been finalised but these are likely to include the following:

• Car Rally – TBA but likely to be early August

• Garden Party/BBQ at Suzanne’s – 4th September

• Quiz and Beetle Drive – October/November

• Have A Go Night – December

Above all do not forget to pay the deposit for your tickets now for the 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance on 18th June and that the rehearsals for “Oklahoma!” start on Thursday 9th September
