The Chicago Mikado

I wanted to confirm in writing the information that I gave at last week’s rehearsal:

• The performance scheduled for Wednesday 24th February has been cancelled.

• The get-in at the Thameside Theatre will now be on Tuesday 23rd February commencing at 10.00am and any volunteers to assist in unloading the scenery should report to our Stage Manager, Mike Peat who will be in the auditorium.

• The number of musicians has been scaled down to 3 (possibly 4)

• We are no longer able to afford the services of John Wallace as the sound engineer and technician, but Ann and Gary Sullivan have kindly offered us the use of StageAbility’s equipment and John Culley has volunteered his services on the sound desk.

• Please see the REVISED REHEARSAL SCHEDULE (available to download from here) which takes account of the various date changes and which hopefully will now remain unchanged for the remainder of our time working on this production.

• We still require somebody to take on the role of listing and getting the various props. necessary for the show. If you are aware of anybody who would do this for us please let me know as soon as.

The various changes have had to be made as a result of poor ticket sales and to mitigate the loss we will undoubtedly make. They were difficult decisions for us to take on behalf of the Membership, but we needed to protect the future well-being of TOPS. I also confirm that the Society will not now be putting on a second production in 2010. We will commence rehearsals on 9th September for our next production, ‘Oklahoma’, which is planned for the Thameside Theatre in the week ending Saturday 19th March 2011.

TOPS Annual General Meeting Please note in your diaries that the AGM will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday 20th May 2010. As there are no rehearsals at that time we are suggesting that this meeting be followed by a ‘bit of a do’ so please bring a plate of food for the table. We hope as many of you as possible will attend.

TOPS 50th Anniversary Dinner/Dance – 18th June 2010 A reminder that to celebrate this year’s half-century, a Dinner/Dance has been arranged to take place in the Monks Barn Restaurant at Ye Olde Plough in Bulphan. Tony Jose, the founder of the Society, together with his wife Mary, will be our Guests of Honour.

The final price per head will not be more than £50 per head. Please order your tickets on that basis and we will adjust the price nearer to the event once we know how many will be attending. Even if you have already filled in a reservation slip, now is the time to pay the deposit of £15.00 per person and we ask that this is paid by Thursday 18th February.
