Welcome back, everyone and a Happy New Year!
I do hope that you had a good time over Christmas and that Santa was kind to you. Now that the festive season is over, all our energies have to be directed to our rehearsals. We have a lot to learn and suddenly, we have just over 2 months to go to curtain up! This equates to 9 more Thursdays after tonight - oops! I leave it with you!
I'm very pleased to be able to tell you that tickets have moved very well during the run up to the end of the year. This will not be good news for some since it inevitably means that many of the best seats are now unavailable. I strongly suggest that you get your orders to me as soon as possible and direct folks to the Wednesday performance as the selection of seating is still good for that evening.
As you know, it has become customary to hold raffles during show week and I would be extremely grateful to receive any unwanted Christmas presents for that purpose. Preferably not something like Auntie's hand knitted socks, but practically nothing will be refused!
Thank you to all of you who supported our singing engagements and social activities last 'term'. The support was somewhat disappointing in some instances, but to those of you who whole heartedly commit to TOPS, my sincere gratitude. Because of the money that is raised by our various activities, the Group keeps afloat, so it cannot be too strongly underlined as to how important is this part of belonging to TOPS.
The Committee has had a great deal of discussion on the subject of our singing engagements, outside of rehearsals. It is felt that the interest is not there and therefore, apart from our summer concert and the repeat for St. Luke's, all other requests for us to perform will be put to the Group. We will only accept invitations to perform if the numbers willing to participate are sufficient for a balanced chorus. However, those of you who do agree to any singing engagement will be expected to honour that agreement and not to pull out and let folks down. At present, TOPS has a high profile because of our involvement with so many things. This promotes good, free publicity and is reflected in show ticket sales. Please think about this when it comes to making your decisions in the future.
2008's social calendar has not yet been set, since again, disinterest has been shown in many events that are organised. To help us get it right, please do tell the Committee what are your likes/dislikes so that we can give you what you enjoy.
Here's to our dancing feet and may 2008 bring you all good health and happiness.
