Time for an update on things so that you can check the diaries and know about the 'affairs of state'.
With regard to My Fair Lady, all seems to be going well, with ticket sales amazingly high for still 6 weeks to go before opening night. This does not mean that you can stop pushing sales! However, if you can direct would-be punters towards Wednesday night's performance, that would be great. That night still has some of the better seats remaining.
A gentle reminder - I would like all ticket monies before show week, please. If any of you have a relative of friend who would be prepared to help 'front of house', I would be grateful - just one evening would be appreciated. Please, I still need some more of those unwanted Christmas presents for the show-week raffles. Thanks to all of you who have already donated prizes.
I feel that I must say something regarding the noise at rehearsals - the level appears to increase each week! I am aware of the difficulties with such a big cast and that often the chat is connected with the show, but it must stop and all your energies should be directed to concentrating on the job in hand. Please be aware of each other and work as a team. I know that there is a lot of hard work being done and we all want the end result to reflect this.
Following the request for suggestions from you for our 2008 show, the Committee did considerable research on the most popular choices and our next production will be Anything Goes. This will be another new addition to the TOPS' repertoire.
Regarding our social activities, we shall be holding the Boules Day and 'Have-A-Go-Night', these dates to be arranged. Trying to come up with events which you may be interested in and therefore, support, is becoming increasingly difficult, so Vera has agreed to take on this task, with a small group of volunteers and form a social committee. We await their ideas and I know that some are already on the drawing-board. If you have some ideas of your own, I'm sure that Vera would be pleased to have them for consideration.
During the rest of February, the Annex is going to be refurbished and therefore, inaccessible to us. We shall be rehearsing in the main Church Hall during this time. Please have patience with any inconvenience this may cause.
'Bye for this one - I hope 2007 will prove to be a good one for you all.
Jose Webb Chairman of TOPS
