Dear TOPS Member
As those of you who have been at rehearsals over the last few weeks will know, the Annual General Meeting of the society will be held on Thursday 10th May 2007 in our usual rehearsal space at Bradleigh Avenue, commencing at 7.00pm.
I would remind you that annual subscriptions are now due (£75 or at the concessionary rate £55 where appropriate). Only fully paid up Members can participate in the AGM and it is therefore essential that the yearly fees are paid before the commencement of the meeting or you will not be able to take part in the discussions, nominations or voting.
Each of the existing Members of the Committee has indicated their wish to continue to serve for a further term. However, nominations are invited for anybody who would like to serve on the Committee and, if any valid nominations are received (see comments re fees above), a ballot will be held to determine the make-up of the Committee for the coming year. Nomination Forms are attached to this letter and these must be returned to one of the existing Committee Members as soon as possible and by no later than the time of the commencement of the AGM.
If you wish to raise any items under “Any other business”, you must give Notice to either the Secretary or Chairman as soon as possible and in any event prior to the commencement of the meeting.
Now on to other matters:
• Ilford Operatic are performing “Anything Goes” (our next production), at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford, in June. The Committee are willing to organise a coach from Grays if sufficient numbers would like to go to see this show on Saturday, 23rd June. I am currently awaiting details so that I can give you an inclusive price (probably about £15 or so), but in the meantime it would be very helpful, to get an idea of numbers, if you would indicate whether you are interested.
• Croquet Day – On Sunday 3rd June, Tina and I will be hosting a Croquet and Barbecue day at “Weald View”, 45, Honeypot Lane, Brentwood. All are welcome, but again to get an idea of numbers, please let me know as soon as possible. Those coming can arrive at anytime after 11.00am. Salad, French Bread/Rolls and Desserts will be provided, as will teas and coffee, but bring your own wine or beer and something to cook on the Barbie. The cost will be £3.00 per adult – children free.
