Hello to everyone.
There are two very important matters that I wish to let everyone associated with TOPS know about.
• I am sure you will be pleased to learn that, on behalf of the Society, the Committee have decided that there will be a Memorial Concert for Jose Webb. This is likely to be held on the afternoon of either Sunday, 26th July or Sunday 2nd August. As you will appreciate there is a lot yet to be finalised as to content, timing and location. (Details will be agreed with Alan Webb and family before proceeding.) The Committee already has all these matters in hand and is in discussion with the Thameside Theatre about the possible use of the main auditorium for this purpose. Our usual rehearsal facility has been booked so that Thursday evening rehearsals can continue from immediately after show week until the end of July (with the exception of 9th April – Maundy Thursday). What we shall need from you is your dedication to making this a truly worthwhile and fitting tribute to Jose and to ensure that, whatever the venue, we have a FULL HOUSE. Tickets will be on sale as soon as we have confirmed all the necessary details with all proceeds going to charity. Please sign the list available at rehearsals to confirm your participation in this important event and your willingness to sell tickets for the Concert.
• One matter that dear Jose had in the planning stage was that The Essex Group’s “Road Crew” have kindly offered to perform a fund raising Concert for TOPS with all proceeds coming to us. The Committee have now provisionally booked the main hall adjacent to the URC in Bradleigh Avenue for the evening on 6th June. With a new programme “One singular sensation”, this promises to be a fantastic evening, but again it will only be so if we to sell as many tickets as possible and the Committee ask that you all do as much as you can to help sell them. Next year, 2010, is our 50th Anniversary year and, as has been previously mentioned, the intention is to stage two main productions. The generous contribution now offered by the very talented “Stage Crew” will be put towards funding those shows.
