About us

Thurrock Operatic Society (TOPS) is a long-standing, highly regarded and lively amateur dramatic organisation, and as such has almost 50 performing members. It has established a reputation over the past half-century for staging musical theatre productions that are of a very high standard using local talent from around the Thurrock and wider south Essex area.

TOPS is a non-profit making, self-funded organisation that is run entirely by volunteers who share a passion for musical theatre, whether this be through performing onstage or working behind the scenes.

The Society receives very minimal financial support from external sources to subsidise the running costs of TOPS or to assist with the cost of staging our shows. Instead we rely on the ticket and programme sales from our strong following of loyal audience members to remain operational.
